SUMMARY:5-7pm Crescendo: Artist Reception for Cindy Miracle
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Saturday afternoon reception frm 5-7pm for November 2016 artist\, Cindy Miracle.   Enjoy a glass of wine\, meet the artist and have a chance to see her work before the end of the month! \nArtist Statement                                                               October\, 2016 \nMy work is loosely representational. Recently I have been working on a series of Monoprints and Monotypes. These are somewhat like paintings on paper\, but the quality of light can be very different and create a surface unlike any other. This process can be very spontaneous; at other times it requires a more methodical approach. Either way the results seem almost magical and continue to surprise me. \nSome of my most recent Monoprints are actually Monotypes\, as I am beginning with “Solar” plates and “Image On” Plates. I select photos with vague images of interiors and/or ancient architectural elements\, then print these photographic images\, combining them with a second and sometimes third plate\, and sometimes incorporating chine colle elements. This allows me to explore an endless variety of interpretations of the ‘mood’ of the original photograph\, and also insures that each monotype is unique. \nI continue to be fascinated by the textures and the innate perspective found in photographs\, and am enthusiastic about exploring the many variations that are possible when combining these elements with the unique technique of the Monoprint and Monotype.     Cindy Miracle \nCindy Miracle holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate School.  She has taught courses in Fine Arts in numerous institutions\, including San Jose State\, De Anza Junior College\, and The Gale Laurence Studio in San Francisco. Her artwork has been on exhibit in galleries and museums throughout the country\, including the Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian\, Purdue University\, Weber State College\, Linhearst Gallery\, USC\, Barnsdale Park Art Gallery and Artspace in Los Angeles\, and Cameraworks in San Francisco. \nWorking in a variety of mediums\, including oil\, acrylic\, casein\, watercolor\, encaustic\, pen and ink\, soft pastel and more recently exploring water soluble printmaking inks\, she continues to explore new ways to use and combine a variety of mediums. She works and also teaches classes in her studio in Woodacre. All artwork is available for viewing at both her studio in Sausalito (at the ICB)\, or her studio in Woodacre. \n
