DESCRIPTION:Join us for Caffeinated Confessions of Mormon Comics\, a cathartic and hilarious bare-knuckled comedy show that combines biting satire and true personal stories of downward spirals from 6 misfit Mormon comics and writers. \nComedy veteran Bengt Washburn has been performing stand-up on the road for 20 years. “The comedy scene in Utah has been growing in the past few years\,” he said. “Whenever I’d swing through town [Salt Lake City] I’d hear these amazing\, hilarious jokes or stories about growing up Mormon and I knew there were a lot of people outside of Utah\, who would fall out of their chairs laughing. It’d be hilarious and cathartic and healthy.”  Since winning the San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2001\, Bengt has appeared on Comedy Central\, CBS and Conan O’Brien on TBS. He recently released a one hour concert special\, “Hole Person” and any one of his four comedy Cds can be heard playing regularly on Sirius XM radio. \nAlso Appearing: \nWilliam Shunn is a Hugo and Nebula Award-nominated science fiction writer\, and author of the memoir The Accidental Terrorist: Confessions of a Reluctant Missionary. He lives in New York City with one wife. \nComedian Abigail Harrison. Abigail was invited to perform at the Limestone Comedy Festival\, the She Devil comedy festival in New York and on Bob and Tom. Her personal stories expose the ridiculousness of LDS doctrines\, ideas and policies regarding the LGBT community and women. \nChristian Peiper was raised in a devout Mormon household in Kentucky by the President of the local LDS Branch where he had the unfortunate experience of having to “officially confess” all the typical sins of “Mormon puberty” to his own father. Christian developed his comedy chops in Utah\, has been heard on the Bob and Tom show and recently moved to L.A. \nComedians Mike Grover and Spence Roper are two of Utah’s favorite comics\, both having won the yearly comedy competition there. Mike recently moved to Chicago to further his career. Spence still lives in Logan\, Utah and has developed a loyal following for #whyyoucryingatchurch\, a monthly live tweet session of Mormon “fast and Testimony” meetings. \n \n  \n
