DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our 2020 season of NOON CONCERTS!  Our 2020 season runs from January thru June 2020 and features some of the most outstanding musicians from throughout the Bay Area and beyond.  These classical  concerts are free to the public and available on a first-come\, first-serve basis.  Today we welcome David Gonzales\, guitar and Matthew Fish on guitar. \nProgram \nYangissê Jarabi Nathan Kolosko (b. 1975)\nI Folletti Paulo de Stefano (b. 1978)\nI. Rondo: Poco vivace \nDavid Gonzales and Matthew Fish first met in the studio of Sérgio Assad while pursuing their Master’s Degrees at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Upon graduation they began to work together as members of the renowned San Francisco Guitar Quartet. With a shared passion for ensemble playing\, Matthew and David began to explore chamber music with two guitars. Playing with a synergy from years of performing together\, they each bring their own unique style and experience to create exciting programs featuring lesser known repertoire and original arrangements for two guitars. \nWith a career spanning 15 years\, versatile guitarist David Gonzales has appeared across the U.S. as a chamber musician\, soloist\, and educator. As co-founder of the ground-breaking electric guitar ensemble\, Ignition Duo and a former member of the San Francisco Guitar Quartet\, David has worked closely with many acclaimed composers to expand the repertoire for both classical and electric guitar. As an award-winning soloist\, David performs music spanning from the renaissance to modern periods. In addition to his broad performing experience\, David is also passionate about nurturing a future generation of creative musical artists through his work as a teacher\, having partnered with numerous music schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. \nMatthew Fish is a prize-winning classical guitarist specializing in music by contemporary composers. His debut album\, From Her Source to the Sea\, received numerous rave reviews from critics. Soundboard Magazine called the album “a first-rate release\,” and Classical Guitar Magazine said the CD\, “Sounds like nothing else you have ever heard.” Matthew has performed throughout the United States for the South Bay Guitar Society\, Sacramento Guitar Society\, Springfield Classical Guitar Society\, Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival\, SF Bay Classical Guitar Festival\, Illinois Wesleyan School of Music\, Hot Air Music Festival\, and the Guitar Foundation of America Regional Symposium in San Francisco. \nABOUT NOON CONCERTS  We have opened our doors for the past 7 + years and presented our Noon Concerts Series free of charge to the public. We bring in talented musicians\, offering listeners the opportunity to discover the beauty of music in an intimate\, accessible setting.  Concerts are in a one-hour format and located in one of our street front settings where both audience and musicians can sit in vibrant\, close proximity.  Musicians often stay after the performance to informally speak about the program and their upcoming concerts. \nNOON CONCERTS CURATOR  We have had the good fortune to have Beni Shinohara as our Noon Concerts Curator over the last 4 years. She also studied extensively in Europe with Sandor Vegh before coming to the United States. Beni has been the Assistant Principal Second violin for the San Francisco Opera Orchestra since 1988 and Assistant Concertmaster in the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra since 1990. She has appeared as a soloist with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra\, the Houston Ballet Orchestra\, and the Cabrillo Music Festival Orchestra. Over the years\, she has premiered numerous twentieth-century Japanese composers’ works\, participating in the “Music Today” Concert Series under the direction of Toru Takemitsu. She also performs with many with Bay Area chamber ensembles such as the Marin Chamber Players\, Gold Coast Chamber Players\, and the Edgewood Trio.  She currently lives in Mill Valley with her husband Katsuto and their Flat-Coated Retriever\, Myla. \n
