SUMMARY:Tuesday Night Live Comedy! featuring Nick Griffin\, Louis Katz\, Ronn Vigh\, Grant Lyon\, Matt Curry\, Jim McVeigh & Dhaya Lakshminarayanan as host
DESCRIPTION:\nTuesday Night Live Comedy! is recognized as one of Bay Area’s best stand-up comedy showcases. Each week 5-8 different comedians take to the mic for a hilarious night of live stand-up. The line-ups feature renowned veteran comics from around the world as well as today’s hottest up-and-coming stars. \nTHE COMEDIANS\n\nNick Griffin\nNick Griffin has appeared on Conan\, The Late Late Show\, in his own half-hour Comedy Central special and was featured on The Late Show with David Letterman eleven times. A comic for more than 25 years\, Griffin’s smart\, sarcastic and hilarious style makes him one of the most well-respected in the business. Originally from Kansas City\, Griffin lives is New York City\, where he regularly performs at The Comedy Cellar\, Stand Up NY\, and Gotham Comedy Club. \n\nRonn Vigh\nEarly in his career\, Ronn Vigh’s brash attitude and acerbic wit earned him a comparison to a young Joan Rivers by the SF Weekly. It was certainly a fitting comparison as Ronn later became a writer for Rivers on her hit E! Television show “Fashion Police.” Ronn regularly performs at comedy clubs\, colleges and festivals across the nation. He also co-hosts the sports-comedy podcast\, “Switching Teams: A Gay Dude & A Straight Dude Talk About Sports.” His biggest accomplishment: Working briefly as a flight attendant and not attempting to smother any of his passengers with a pillow. Yes\, there were complimentary pillows on the plane when Ronn did that job. Please don’t do the math. \nDhaya Lakshminarayanan\nDhaya Lakshminarayanan is the 2016 winner of the Liz Carpenter Political Humor Award (previously awarded to Samantha Bee\, Wanda Sykes and satirist/humorist Mark Russell) presented by the National Women’s Political Caucus. KQED named her one of the twenty “Women to Watch” a series celebrating women artists\, creatives and makers in the San Francisco Bay Area who are pushing boundaries in 2016. Dhaya is also a TV host and storyteller. She hosted the premier year of the Emmy award-winning series High School Quiz Show on PBS’s WGBH. She is a frequent comedic storyteller on NPR’s Snap Judgment and has appeared live in Austin on The Risk podcast. She is currently the host of San Francisco’s monthly Moth StorySLAM after winning a Moth StorySLAM and competing in the GrandSLAM at the Castro Theater (capacity 1400). ON24 awarded her the grand prize for “Best Travel Disaster Story.” \nLouis Katz\nLouis Katz’s comedy deftly combines the highbrow and the lowbrow\, creating a style that is truly unique. An internationally headlining comedian\, Louis’ numerous television appearances include NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon\,” HBO’s “Down & Dirty with Jim Norton\,” and most recently\, Comedy Central’s “This Is Not Happening.” His own half-hour stand-up special also aired on Comedy Central\, and coincided with the release of his debut comedy album\, “If These Balls Could Talk\,” on Comedy Central Records. His latest album\, “KATZKILLS\,” was released in 2018 on 800 Pound Gorilla Records. Louis was also a regularly featured writer/correspondent on FX’s “Totally Biased with W Kamau Bell.” \nGrant Lyon\nDescribed by San Francisco Weekly as “a hilariously sharp observer\, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers\,” Grant was once a collegiate soccer player. He decided to pursue a career on stage instead of on the field\, and that decision’s been rewarded by being chosen as a New Face in comedy at the Just For Laughs Festival\, winning the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival\, and being a finalist in the Big Sky Festival. He plays a fun role in the second season of The Comedy Central show “Corporate” and stars in the upcoming feature film Killer Kate! As well as performing in a number of other prestigious comedy festivals including The Great American Comedy Festival\, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival\, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival\, Grant’s performed on the TV show Comics Unleashed. He has appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show\, is heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio\, and has been a guest on numerous popular podcasts including Doug Loves Movies. As well as being a contributing writer for the Huffington Post\, the film he wrote and starred in\, Interview Date\, was eligible for a short film Academy Award. Funny or Die\, MSN\, Huffington Post\, and others are among the sites that have featured Grant’s sketch videos on their home pages. You might also recognize him from a number of national commercials including AT&T\, Johnsonville Sausage\, CiCi’s Pizza\, and more. \n\nMatt Curry\nWith a nonchalant stage presence\, a meticulous eye for writing and a metronome’s sense of timing\, Matt Curry always has a unique take on things\, both relatable and absurd. He draws on his brief time spent as a lawyer to craft his arguments\, his years as a high school teacher to keep the audience engaged and his years as a comedian to know the rule of threes.  Mike has featured in clubs throughout the West Coast\, Canada\, and recently finished a 4 country European tour. \n\nJim McVeigh\n\nJim McVeigh is a comedian based in San Francisco. Jim’s comedy stems from feeling like an alien in most parts of life. He’s been described as having both dorky-dad\, and cool-mom energy on stage. His act is vulnerable and silly\, as he tries to process the world happening at him. Jim has performed at the San Francisco Comic Con\, The Savage Henry Comedy Festival\, and he co-produces the popular weekly stand-up show called Critical Hit\, every Saturday in Oakland. \n  \n
