DESCRIPTION:Throckmorton Theatre Noon Concerts presents \nPatrick Galvin\, Violin\nBritton Day\, Piano \njoined by Mike Shuldes\, French Horn \n~ Program ~ \nFranck Violin Sonata in A \nBrahms Horn Trio\, Op. 40 \n  \n*** \nABOUT THE MUSICIANS \n  \nBritton Day is a member of the accompanying staff at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory Division. He performs regularly in venues around the greater Bay Area\, including recent appearances in the San Francisco Symphony Chamber Series\, InConcert Sierra\, the Berkeley Hillside Club and at the Center for New Music. Britton received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music\, and his Master of Music and a Professional Studies Diploma in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory. \nWhen he is not giving recitals\, Britton can be found playing for ballet classes most weekday mornings at Miss Tilly’s Ballet School\, located in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond District. \nPatrick Galvin is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music prior to which he spent 2 years as a studying violin with Barbara Gorzynska in Vienna\, Austria. \nHe made his solo debut at age 11 with the Oakland East Bay Symphony playing the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1. He was winner of the East Bay Young Artist Competition in 2000\, the Yehudi Menuhin/Helen Dowling award in 2002 and the Kensington Young Artist Competition in 2003. In April 2004 he was the soloist with the Kensington Symphony playing the Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No 5. He has also performed at the Junior Bach Festival. In 2013 and 2015\, Patrick competed in the Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach\, Austria. \nWhen he is not performing\, Patrick teaches violin at a private school and out of his home in San Francisco. He also writes reviews for the online journal The San Francisco Classical Voice. In 2014\, Patrick was selected to be a fellow in the Rubin Institute for Music Criticism. During his time at the University of San Francisco\, he was selected to be a Davies Scholar. He is also a member of the folk band Hoxton Mob which performs regularly throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently\, he has begun scoring radio stories for live performance. \nMike Shuldes has performed with a wide variety of ensembles\, and had unique opportunities to play music around the world. An active chamber musician\, he is a member of One Found Sound\, an innovative conductor-less chamber orchestra\, as well as the One Found Sound Woodwind Quintet\, OFSQ. He is also a member of Elevate Ensemble\, an artistic Chamber Orchestra involving music from new composers\, art and visual performance during concerts. Mike is an active freelance musician in the Bay Area\, appearing with orchestras such as Berkeley Symphony\, Santa Rosa Symphony\, Symphony Silicon Valley\, Stockton Symphony\, and Merced Symphony. \nMike has a masters degree in French Horn Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music\, where he studied with Bruce Roberts of the San Francisco Symphony. He currently resides in Sausalito with his wife\, Anne. \n  \nWEDNESDAY NOON CONCERTS \nThe community is invited to our complimentary Winter Season of Wednesday Noon Concerts. As part of our ongoing mission to use the transformative power of the arts to inspire and enrich our community\, we have opened our doors for the past two years\, every Wednesday at Noon\, and presented concerts performed by talented musicians that are free of charge to the public. These free noon performances offer listeners the opportunity to discover the beauty of music in an intimate accessible setting\, while providing the community with cultural enrichment and exposure to talented performers. \nConcerts are in a one-hour format and most performances take place in the intimate Tivoli where both audience and musicians can sit in vibrant\, close proximity. Musicians often stay after the performance to informally speak about the program and their upcoming concerts. \n
