Throckmorton Theatre’s StoryNights sources high-caliber performers from the worlds of standup, slam poetry, and acting to tell personal stories live onstage. The storytelling event creates a vicarious experience for its audience, with a wide spectrum of first-person stories that introduce you to someone else’s world.
On Friday evening, September 7th, StoryNights returns to the Throckmorton with a top-notch lineup including Emmy-nominated actor and stand-up comedian Don Reed (HBO/NPR’s Snap Judgement/Bartlett). Also taking the stage is Madhouse Rhythm creator Joshua Walters, Moth StorySlam winner & San Francisco International Comedy Competition semi-finalist Imran G, BATS Improv company player & Moth StorySlam host Corey Rosen, best-selling author & Moth Grandslam finalist David Nihill, and Comedy Central’s Clusterfest featured performer Feel Woods.

DON REED
Don Reed (NPR’s Snap Judgment), a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Nominee and NAACP Double Nominee for Best Actor & Best Playwright, has performed, written and directed for film, television and theater. His work on an HBO Robert Townsend Partners and Crime Special of up-and-coming comedians years ago caught the attention of some major Hollywood players and led to many recurring and guest starring roles on television. He has performed all over the country and opened for Tony Award winner Tommy Tune. You may have heard his voice on: Spiderman, Johnny Quest, Bob’s Burgers produced Huck, Etc, The Voice, Law & Order, Saturday Night Live or most recently on CBS 2 Broke Girls as Nancy the Cat giving birth. Reed has created promos for The Voice, The Golden Globes, The Academy Awards, MLB, Chappelle’s Show, Tyler Perry Films and the Olympics. Additionally, Don has written, directed, produced and starred in the HBO Shorts – Lucky: The Irish Pimp and Pookie Watson: Hood Detective. He has written and starred in work for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN and developed screenplays for Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule and Maverick Filmworks. Reed was the opening act/warm-up comedian for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for over 1,000 episodes, as well as the most recent incarnation of The Arsenio Hall Show. He has feature film he penned at the funding stage with producers connected to “The Expendables” franchise and is launching a reality franchise this year through “2 Reediculous Enz Productions.” He is a board member of the thriving 51Oakland foundation keeping music and the arts alive in Oakland Public Schools.

IMRAN G
Imran G hits the stage with intensity and clever quips that keep his audience enthralled and roaring with laughter. A NASA rocket scientist by day, he performs at clubs and theaters around the San Francisco Bay Area. Imran has been a semi-finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the NBC Standup Showcase. He took 1st place in the 2011 Walk the Plank Comedy Competition and the 2014 Moth San Francisco StorySlam. He’s also performed at SF SketchFest and Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. Imran has been honored to work with greats like Dana Carvey, Robin Williams and more. He hosts the Moth and Speechless Live in San Francisco and co-hosts the Bad Asians podcast. When not doing comedy he enjoys doing cartwheels and acting like he knows how to breakdance.
JOSHUA WALTERS
Madhouse Rhythm creator Joshua Walters is a coach, performer and producer who “explores language, creativity, beatboxing and madness” -TED.com. He is a regular contributor to Snap Judgment, a weekly storytelling radio show on NPR with TV broadcasts on PBS. Walters is best known for his work on TED Talks, for his talk entitled On Being Crazy Enough, which explores the bipolar spectrum and is now at 1.5M views and counting. He is involved in mental health advocacy nation-wide and takes part in mentoring youth on the creative spectrum.
FEEL WOODS
Feel Woods is not ashamed to admit that he’s a stuttering comedian straight out the streets of Oakland, California. Perhaps the only one. His self deprecating stories and tales on growing up in inner city Oakland has earned him a spot as a ‘featured performer’ at SF Sketchfest, Comedy Central’s Clusterfest and a regular spot at the historic 500 seat Great Star Theater in China Town. He’s also opened for legends like Paul Mooney at the Black Repertory Theater in Berkeley 3 times (he gives Paul weed in trade for stage time) also Hannibal Burress.
COREY ROSEN
Corey Rosen is an actor, writer and visual effects producer who lives in San Francisco. He is a regular host of The Moth StorySlam series in the Bay Area, and his stories have been featured on The Moth Radio Hour. Corey began his career writing for Jim Henson Productions and Comedy Central in New York City. As an actor, Corey can be see as a main stage company player at BATS Improv, where he improvises feature length plays. Corey is the creator of The A**hole Monologues: A Comedy For Anyone Who Has One, Knows One, or Is One. As a computer graphics artist, his film credits include Iron Man, Grindhouse, Ted, and The Phantom Menace. He is currently writing the script for a ride-film at a Chinese Theme Park.
DAVID NIHILL
Leaving Dublin, Ireland, where he was born and raised until the age of 22, David got drunk on travel and never quite hit the sobriety of it. A bestselling author, David has been featured in Inc, NPR, Huffington Post, Forbes, Lifehacker and the Irish Times, and was recently part of the Irish Kings of Comedy Tour, SF Sketchfest, the Ventura Comedy Festival, Ukiah Comedy Alley, and the Kansas City Irish Festival. A multiple Moth Storyslam winner, Grandslam finalist and occasional host David has also told tales at Porchlight, The Naked Truth, Fireside and Litquake. Always a funny storyteller, these days he calls San Francisco home when immigration officials permit.
