As we continue to navigate these uncertain times, the Throckmorton is dedicated to providing artistic opportunities for our youth community. Below are some of our Winter/Spring 2021 offerings. Please note that we have not listed all of them and are still in process for some classes.

TEEN TEACHING PROGRAM: Beginning Theatre Class ( ages 7-11)
We are excited to offer this unique opportunity for our new young actors to be taught by our Youth Theatre Company members. Classes will include games, skills building and practice performances! Each class will be taught by a small team of our company members via ZOOM. Play, learn and build confidence in your theatre skills with our talented youth teachers!
Class Location: ZOOM
Class Fee: $120
Class Dates: January 4- February 8 (5 CLASSES TOTAL)
Class Times: Mondays, 4-5pm

THROCK AFTERSCHOOL THEATRE PROGRAM
Disclaimer:At this time we are basing our opportunities on the current and projected climate amidst COVID-19. Our hope is to have our in-person class productions with the schedule below but are aware that the atmosphere may change. Our classes will then move to ZOOM with a video performance.
This Spring we are very excited to be offering 2 sessions IN-PERSON of The Phantom Tollbooth Jr. This is a beloved book that turned into a musical, has incredible characters and a beautiful story of friendships and hope. We will focus on scene work and choreography in rehearsal while getting creative with vocals ( changing songs into scenes and working on vocals at home and in small distanced groups). One teen class ( 12 and up) and one youth classes 6-12 years old. Our classes will be limited to 14 participants per session and will meet IN-PERSON twice weekly.
- Classes meet 2x a week for 5 weeks total.
- There will be a maximum of 14 students per class.
- Performance location TBA ( dependent on COVID restrictions and safety). Either indoors on the theatre stage or outdoors.
- Rehearsals will take place inside and around the outside of the theatre. Tables and chairs have been removed to create a vast space to allow for ample social distancing during rehearsal.
- Students will be temperature checked upon arrival, wear masks for the whole rehearsal and we will social distance as much as possible.

PAST OFFERINGS
As we navigate the "new normal" amidst the Coronovirus, the Throckmorton Theatre remains dedicated to our founding belief that the arts are essential components of a rich and rewarding life. We continue our mission this Fall by providing opportunities to our youth community through in-person and online classes in dance, theatre, costume design and social action, taught by local professional artists. PLEASE NOTE: ALL CLASSES ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. ENROLLMENT FOR ALL CLASSES BEGINS MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH @ 9AM.

IN-PERSON (IP) classes are limited to 10 -14 participants. We will maintain strict COVID guidelines and require all students to wear masks and maintain social distancing while in class.
ONLINE (OL) classes are limited to 12-20 participants. Students will be expected to attend and participate in all classes ( unless otherwise noted).
(IP) EXPRESSIVE MOVEMENT IN MUSICAL THEATRE: AGES 10-18
Dig deep into the many qualities of movement expression with this course, led by Gary Stanford Jr. ( Actor, Director, Choreographer), that explores emotional archetypes and applies those discoveries into musical theatre character movement styles. Channel your Fosse isolations, western footwork, physical comedy and many more combinations in this fun class of (socially distanced) movement twice a week! Final mini performances will be optionally recorded for family and friends. Some dance experience recommended.

(IP) ART AND SOCIAL ACTION: AGES 10-18
Guided by local artist and activist, Gary Stanford Jr. with special guests, this course explores ways in which to express social injustice, history and social change through art. The class will meet twice a week at the theatre and focus on discussions around our current climate and realizing the problems and will look at ways in which to create the solutions. All voices and artistic mediums are encouraged to join as we educate, understand and appreciate the accomplishments and advancements of different cultures in American society through art and performance.
Course Fee: $400 ( No one turned away for lack of funds)

Days/Times: Tuesdays and Fridays, 6-7:30pm
(OL) YOUNG ACTORS THEATRE CLASS: AGES 6-11
This course bursts with fun and explorations of the many possibilities in theatre! Theatre games and warm-ups will be followed by the “Theme of the Day”; Heroes of the Stage, Villains of the Stage, Shakespeare, Broadway Dances, Original Storytelling and others! Each class will focus on the theme and spend time learning and piecing together a fun final project. Potential to have 1-2 meetings in-person for the final showings dependent on Marin County Guidelines.

(OL) THEATRE PREP FOR YOUNG ACTORS: AGES 12-18
Learn about different actor "types," and how perception is just as important. Led by local theatre artist and musician, Raquel Nicole Jeté, this course will research various actors currently working in the Film, Television and Theater industry and how they use their type to maintain lasting careers. Work on self-confidence, finding authenticity and breaking down stereotypes to build your strength and success in the acting world through discussion, exercises and mini performances.
Course Fee: $185
Dates: September 30- November 4
