Audition for Throckmorton Theatre’s Spring Conservatory Acting Studio and learn how to be your most alive and authentic self onstage! This conservatory nurtures creativity, develops vocal and physical skills, and enhances young actors’ ability to perform and work together as part of the ensemble. Through exercises, scene and monologue work this ensemble-based acting class is designed to develop imagination, concentration, character, professionalism, and technique. Under the direction of Amy Marie Haven, actors will leave the conservatory with a newly coached audition monologue and scene with partner(s) to be performed at Throckmorton Theatre’s Spring Open Mic Night on May 17, 2018.

Dates & Times: Mondays, February 26 – April 30, 2018 from 4-5:30pm (no class 3/12 and 4/9)

Audition Preparation: Please prepare a one minute poem or monologue. Be ready to share a personal experience that has shaped you, along with other interview-style questions. Be prepared to take direction on your poem or monologue.
Tuition: $250

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Amy Marie Haven
Based in the Bay Area, Amy Marie has directed for and acted with many award- winning local companies including: Cal Shakes, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, The Quixote Project, We Players, Alter Theater and Sleepwalkers Theatre. Recently, she directed 23 Elephants’ The Unspeakable Act, a production awarded Best of Fringe 2016 and opened the world premiere of a new adaptation of The Oresteia in Oakland. Her international theatre experience includes: Theatre of Heart and Four Larks Theater in Melbourne, Australia, as well as youth street theatre in Tulum Mexico and educational program creation at San Jeronimo Bilingual School, in Cofradia, Honduras. Amy Marie is a co-founder of Tomorrow Youth Repertory in Alameda, and has spent the last two years as a full- time faculty member with Oakland School for the Arts’ School of Theatre. She is thrilled to be joining the 142 Throckmorton community in a larger capacity and looks forward to the many artistic endeavors and adventures to come!
