Each week Throckmorton Theatre showcases 5-7 comedians at the top of their game, both fresh talent on the rise and renowned veteran comics from around the world. Come see what the buzz is all about! The Comedians

JEFF RICHARDS

Jeff Richards attended Las Lomas High School. One of his first jobs was at a Walnut Creek plumbing company. He left California to attend the University of North Carolina. After leaving the school, Richards traveled across the country as a stand-up comedian. Once he performed at a 13 year-olds birthday party for $50. Finally, he performed at Caroline’s on Broadway and on late-night TV talk shows. He joined “Saturday Night Live” in the 2001-2002 season as a featured player and later joined the main cast. His characters include; Drunk Girl and infant pop-star “Baby-K.” His impressions include; Bill O’Reilly, Gary Busey, and David Letterman.

JAMMIN’ JAY LAMONT

Jammin’ Jay Lamont is not just a comedian; he is a multi-talented entertainer. Known to many as the “The Human IPOD,” Jay has performed on major concert and comedy stages with performers like The Gap Band, The O’Jays, Anita Baker, Ledisi, and Jamie Foxx to name a few. He also opened for Mary J. Blige in 13 cities on her Libration Concert tour. Since moving to Los Angeles Jay has performed on BET’s Comicview, Comedy Central, Showtime At The Apollo, Tom Joyner Family Reunion, Russell Simmon’s Def Comedy Jam, Byron Allens “Comic Unleashed”, Jamie Foxx presents “Laffapalooza” and Martin Lawrence’s “1st Amendment” and several other TV shows. Jay adapts to any type of audience and delivers a one-of-a-kind show night after night. He is a clean upscale entertainer that mixes a dash of comedy with a sprinkle of impressions and a hand full of music.

BARBARA “BABS” GRAY

Bab’s ebullient stage presence combined with vulnerable material and goofy style has made her a quickly rising star in the Los Angeles alternative comedy scene. In 2016 she filmed sets for Viceland’s “Flophouse” and Hulu’s “Coming to the Stage” and she has written for the past three seasons of the hit show “Billy on the Street”. She recently co-starred in Comedy Central’s digital series “Deadliest Chef”, and she can be seen in the upcoming Nick Swardson series “Typical Rick” and MTV’s “Acting Out”. Along with touring all over the country, Babs has made multiple visits to SF Sketchfest and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Her comedy has been featured on Huffington Post and Ellen. She is also a regular at the top shows and venues in Los Angeles, including the Improv, Comedy Store, Meltdown, and Good Heroin. Barbara also co-hosts the hit podcast “Lady to Lady”, which recently surpassed 2 million downloads from listeners all over the world.

REGGIE STEELE

A Bay Area native, Reggie Steele started doing comedy in 2000, and his hilarious stories quickly made him a local favorite. National TV success soon followed, and Reggie was seen on Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-Up, Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, Comedy.TV and Nickelodeon’ Nickmom. When he’s not touring the country with his jokes, performing for the troops overseas, or cracking up Northern California audiences, Reggie is an actor whose credits include a recurring role on NBC’s Trauma, a role in the film Love on the Line and Nowhere Girl. He also has a starring role in the feature length film, Hey Monster Hands off My City. You may have also seen him in an episode of Murder in the First on TBS and you can see him the Netflix original series, 13 Reasons Why.

BRANDIE POSEY

Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Brandie Posey is a stand up comedian, writer and producer who now calls LA’s comedy scene home. She has been featured as a performer at the New York Comedy Festival, RIOT Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, FEST in Gainesville, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, The All Jane Festival, High Plains in Denver, among many others. She has opened for all of your favorite comics, including Kyle Kinane, Maria Bamford and the legendary punk band Against Me! Brandie has appeared on MTV, E! and Comedy Central. She made her feature film debut in the indie dark comedy, “The Worst Year Of My Life” directed by Jonathan Smith and her first stand up record Opinion Cave debuted at #1 on iTunes & #12 on Billboard.com. Brandie is honored to rep the LA comedy scene on the compilation album “Holy Fuck. Album Comedy.” and tours the country, headlining every dark corner with a microphone that will have her. She is the co-creator & host of Picture This!, the popular comedy-animation show with franchises in LA, Portland, New York & San Francisco. Picture This! recently shot a pilot for TruTV in partnership with Page Hurwitz & Wanda Sykes’ Push It Productions. At the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre & The Hollywood Improv, Brandie co-hosts Lady to Lady alongside Barbara Gray & Tess Barker.  Lady to Lady is also a celebrated weekly podcast with over 4 million downloads & loyal fans around the world.

TESS BARKER

Tess is a Los Angeles based writer and nationally touring comedian who has appeared at the Comedy Central Stage, Meltdown Comics, UCB, and at clubs and colleges throughout the country. She has written for TVLand’s “Throwing Shade,” TruTV’s “Billy on the Street,” and is regularly published on a number of outlets, including Vice, The Guardian, Vox, MTV News, Jezebel, and L.A Weekly, where her work has ranged from investigative pieces about wage inequity in professional cheerleading to profiles of icons like Charo and Betsey Jonson. She was one of the hosts of Ovation TV’s “Broadway Bash,” — a talk show devoted to the television show Smash. She holds a B.A. in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University, and is the co-bookwriter and lyricist of “Time Between Us,” an original two person musical, which premiered in New York as part of the 2011 New York Musical Theater festival, where it was named Critic’s Pick, and has since enjoyed a number of regional productions, including at Serenbe Playhouse in Atlanta, GA. She is one of the producers and hosts of Lady to Lady, a popular podcast on the Maximum Fun Network; live talk show at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in Los Angeles; and regular SnapChat series on Comedy Central. Her work has been performed and studied at schools including Emerson College and Yale University. When she’s not writing or doing stand up, Tess enjoys dogs, running, and talking about Britney Spears.

JOHNNY STEELE  (HOST)

Johnny Steele is a veteran comedian, some-time talk show host, writer, humorist, political satirist, acclaimed actor and all-around loud mouth commentator. He’s the former host of several radio and TV shows including The Live 105 Morning Show, THE SHOW on KRON 4/Bay TV, The War On Error Radio Hour on Green 960. Johnny is a past winner of the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and has performed comedy across the US, Canada, and overseas for 30 years. Johnny has been teaching comedy for 15 years and is currently wrapping up his book, 50 Quick Comedy Tips. He has written for corporate CEOs, Grammy winning musicians, and Academy Award winning actors.
