A mere 2 weeks after his birth in 1932 Warwick Tompkins Jr. was brought on board Wander Bird, an 85 foot schooner, where he lived for 9 years before making the transition to land in Sausalito, CA. Warwick’s love of boats and the ocean is undeniable. Now in his 80’s, he has spent most of his life racing, cruising, designing, rigging and delivering boats and is still finding pleasure sailing the seas on Flashgirl with his wife, Nancy, by his side. With his wealth of experience and knowledge of sailing, few people in the world are more qualified to talk about life on the water than Tompkins himself.
LIFE ON THE WATER films honor the history, culture and achievements of inspiring individuals who are drawn to water. These films are defined by character-driven narratives that document and preserve important stories that might otherwise fade away.
