MEET THE COMEDIANS

Richard Sarvate

Richard Sarvate grew up in the Bay Area to parents of Indian immigrants. His last name sounds Mexican because it was butchered during an immigration debacle. He spent 10 years working as a programmer before deciding to throw off the shackles of corporate life. Now he spends his nights on stage poking fun at his previous career. His jokes range from an impression of a GPS for insecure men to deep and introspective subjects like his mother’s schizophrenia. He’s a regular host at the San Francisco Punch Line, he’s written sketches with Don Novello from SNL, and he recently completed a 20 show tour of India. www.rsarvate.com

Samson Koletkar

Samson Koletkar (aka Mahatma Moses) was born in Mumbai and raised Jewish. Growing up in the world’s most crowded city, he spent most of his childhood years burning the midnight candles for earning a Masters Degree in Computer Software, thereby fulfilling his parent’s dreams. He then moved half-way across the world, to the technology headquarters and a hotbed for emerging comics – San Francisco. Samson brings a refreshingly new approach to cerebral, witty, thought-provoking, clean humor with a first-generation immigrant perspective. Driven by personal trials and tribulations, his subtle satire addresses religious and political hypocrisies, social issues, and day-to-day absurdities of human nature. Samson is Co-Founder of Desi Comedy Fest, the largest South Asian comedy festival in America. He is also founder of Comedy Oakland, the longest running weekly comedy show in Oakland and voted “2016 Best Place for Comedy” in East By Express Readers poll. http://www.mahatma-moses.com/

Abhay Nadkarni

Abhay is a comedian/writer/producer that moved from South-India to South Central Los Angeles for grad school. Dodging bullets en-route to grad school armed him with plenty of stories and stand up was his only catharsis for combating culture shock. His act is an eclectic mix of his experience as an immigrant in the US. He’s appeared on CBS, Audible’s “America from Abroad with Rob Delaney”, been featured in The Huffington Post, SF Chronicle, and been part of comedy festivals SF Sketchfest and the World Series of Comedy. He recently completed a 20 show tour of India and is the co-creator of theDesi Comedy Fest- the largest south asian comedy festival in America. He is also the co-creator of “The Setup”, a weekly comedy show featured as one of the best underground comedy shows in San Francisco by Thrillist and Timeout (2016). www.comedianabhay.com

Geechy Guy

Geechy Guy (Michael Cathers) started his career in entertainment by working as a magician at the age of 6 before moving on to juggling and unicycle trickery until finally landing on the comedy stage at the age of 19. He went on to make over 75 national TV appearances including ten on the Ed McMahon hosted “Star Search,” three on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Make Me Laugh (Comedy Central), The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and America’s Got Talent. He was the opening act for “Ron White’s Comedy Salute to the Troops 2014” and holds the Guinness World Record for the most jokes (676 to be exact) told in one hour.

Grant Lyon

Starting his career in the vibrant San Francisco comedy scene, San Francisco Weekly described Grant as “a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers.” A former collegiate soccer player, Grant decided to pursue a career on stage instead of on the field. In 2014, he won the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival beating out comedians from all over the country, and was chosen as a New Face in comedy at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. As well as performing in a number of other prestigious comedy festivals including The Great American Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Grant performed on the TV show Comics Unleashed. He has appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show and is heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio. As well as being a contributing writer for the Huffington Post, the short film he wrote and starred in, Interview Date, was eligible for a short film Academy Award in 2013. Funny or Die, MSN, Huffington Post, and others are among the sites that have featured Grant’s sketch videos on their home pages. You might also recognize Grant from a number of national commercials including AT&T, Johnsonville Sausage, CiCi’s Pizza, and more. www.grantlyon.com
