Marin Horizon presents The Wiz, a superb musical featuring a cast of 38 students in 6th-8th grade. The Wiz follows Dorothy, our heroine, on a journey through a realm filled with characters that showcase the best and worst of modern society. While audiences will love the funky sing-along trip down the yellow brick road, this theatrical performance is also a part of Marin Horizon’s year-long Middle School interdisciplinary study of “the hero’s journey.” Along with learning the music, dialogue, blocking, and choreography, students also examined the important themes and history of The Wiz, a historically black modern adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.
