Blithedale Canyon is melodious country/Americana/bluegrass band from Mill Valley whose members are longtime friends with decades of experience playing various kinds of music. Imagine old-school country songs and bluegrass with a bit of old-time rock and roll, played on pedal steel, Fender Telecaster and Precision bass, and a Martin acoustic guitar, with three lead singers and mellifluous three-part harmonies, and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect from this exciting new quartet. The band is Gary Kaye on pedal steel, Gary Bauman on lead guitar, Claudia Hampe on rhythm, and Larry Carlin on bass.
At any Blithedale Canyon show you are likely to hear a multifarious mix of Merle, Hank, Johnny, Patsy and Emmylou, along with Creedence, The Mavericks, Neil Young, The New Riders, The Byrds, and the Dead, all done in a style that has been dubbed “Marin County Country.” http://carltone.com/BlithedaleCanyon.html
The high-octane Americana band, The Jones Gang (formerly Houston Jones), is like a VW van with 310,000 miles rolling out of the shop – they are still truckin’ with some new artistic surprises and grooves. The core Gang remains the same: golden-voiced Travis Jones sings lead and plays rhythm guitar; Motor City madman Henry Salvia is on keyboards and accordion; the talented, in-demand Mill Valley musician Joshua Zucker is on bass; and the drummer and percussionist is Mr. Peter McGee Tucker.
The Jones Gang is excited to share the stage for this show with the amazing David Phillips on pedal steel and Dobro. The Jones Gang is having such a good time with their new configuration. Please check out their website for bios and music samples. They are also in the process of recording new material and they can’t wait to play these songs live. www.thejonesgang.com
