ABOUT THE SHOW: It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skaters find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that Gabriella, the shy, brainy girl he met singing karaoke on his snowboarding trip, has just transferred to East High. When Troy and Gabriella decide to audition for the lead parts in their high school musical, they cause an upheaval in their school. Despite other students’ attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to “stick to the status quo”. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, breaking away from stereotypes, and learning to balance their friends, family, academics and extracurriculars.
