“magic writing, magic playing, magic album” ~ Billy Bragg on Spawn of the Beast
“We’ve heard few recent debuts as bold and provocative as Fionn O Lochlainn’s Spawn of the Beast. Not only does he demonstrate a knack for observant songwriting, but he’s an impressive guitarist and musters a vocal range that stretches from dry witticisms to power-crooning worthy of Jeff Buckley” Time Out New York City
Performing and recording artist Fionn O Lochlainn, born in England, raised by musician Father Ruan, to sing, play guitars, keys, drums, orchestrate strings, and self record his songs, also working with great talent in England such as Nigel Godrich to create materials that caught the attention of Perfect Songs Publishing…Arriving in America 2000 after signing major record deal with Universal Records, recording and living in the lower east side of Manhattan, working with Andy Wallace on his material, as well as playing residencies at The Knitting Factory and The Rockwood Music Hall.
His first album Spawn of the Beast gained much critical acclaim, leading him to play sell out shows at Joe’s Public Theater with standing ovations, sharing the stage with some of the finest musicians in America, also performing at CMJ and SXSW in 2007 and 2008. Due to a humanitarian narrative in Fionn’s music, he also got invited to perform at a peace conference with Howard Zinn at Great Hall of Cooper Union, being asked to speak on a panel. Successful performances also include Troubadour, Hotel Cafe and House of Blues in Los Angeles, as well as festivals across California, Nevada and Seattle. First years in USA were spent engrossed in recording and performing, so Fionn, greatly inspired by American culture, succumbed to a strong inclination to travel America with his guitar, in pursuit of cultural and social osmosis; gaining a wealth of experience to imbue within his second album, 3 Stripe Balloon, scheduled for release in summer of 2016.
