Vocalist Joan Getz brings her unique style to jazz classics, bossa nova favorites and American Songbook masterpieces. Her soulful interpretation, subtly tinged with irony & wit, never fails to move the listener. She’s a singer whose life you can feel in every song. Joan and pianist Chris Huson have been performing together for 10 years. Completing the fabulous Chris Huson Trio is bassist Gary Lillard and drummer Brady Fishler. ABOUT THE MUSICIANS
Joan Getz has performed regularly in clubs, restaurants, private parties and corporate events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Her repertoire features the Great American Songbook. In concert situations, with emphasis on a favorite composer, her repartee engages the audience with the little known stories about the songwriter. Paying tribute to the great songwriters demonstrates her deep roots in this genre with it’s beautiful melodies & infectious swing. With her love of Bossa Nova, Blues & Soul, as well as Jazz compositions, her songbook is extensive and her choices always embrace simple truths about life.
Pianist Chris Huson has been playing in Bay Area venues for over 40 years. Influenced by Oscar Peterson at an early and later inspired by Bill Evans and Tom Jobim, Chris exhibits a soulful approach to the piano, a reflection of his Chicago roots. Accompanying Chris on piano is Gary Lillard on bass and Brady Fishler on drums.
