ABOUT Winner of 4 Tonys (1996 Revival) and 5 Oscars, the Classic Broadway hit The King and I tells the story of Anna, a British schoolteacher hired as part of the King of Siam’s drive to modernize his country. The relationship between the King and Anna is marked by cultural conflict, as well as a love that neither can admit. Along with the dazzling score, the incomparable Jerome Robbins ballet, ‘The Small House of Uncle Thomas,’ is one of the all-time marvels of the musical stage.
Throckmorton Youth Performers, one of our youth programs, offers a season of musical theatre on the main stage, designed and directed by highly qualified theater arts professionals with an emphasis on exceptional professional quality. Students between the ages of 8-18 audition for the roles and also have the opportunity to learn the ropes behind the scenes as crew, stage managing, light board operator, prop and costume support and ushering.
