PERFORMER BIO
The DIVISA ENSEMBLE is recognized for its engaging performances and eclectic programming. The ensemble’s unconventional instrumentation (flute, oboe, violin, viola, and cello) and “mix-and-match” approach allow for a wide variety of repertoire comprising all traditional and contemporary styles.
Since its premier concert in 2009, the Divisa Ensemble has performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. On every program the Divisa Ensemble showcases its diverse repertoire of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary genres in a variety of wind and string ensemble combinations. The Divisa Ensemble has given formal concert appearances at venues including the Del Valle Fine Arts Series, St. Bede’s Performing Arts Series, Manteca Kindred Arts Series, Old First Concerts, Trinity Chamber Concerts, and UC Berkeley Noon Concert Series. They have appeared as featured artists of the Vallejo Symphony and the San Francisco Chapter of the National Association of Composers. The Divisa Ensemble has also appeared in less conventional venues. These types of performances include music and beer pairings at the Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company and participating in World Music Day on the streets of Palo Alto.
Current members of the Divisa Ensemble are Tomiko Tsai (flute), Meave Cox (oboe), Eugenia Wie (violin), Stephanie Ng (viola), and Sara Styles (cello). Members trained individually at Rice University, Peabody Conservatory, Mannes College of Music, Boston University, San Francisco Conservatory, University of Puget Sound, San Francisco State University, University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Southern California. The Divisa Ensemble’s members perform with many orchestras throughout the Bay Area including Symphony Silicon Valley, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and the Oakland, Vallejo, Marin, Monterey, Santa Rosa, and San Francisco Symphonies.

For the past 5 years we have offered complimentary classical concerts every Wednesday featuring renowned musicians from around the world. Thank you so much to all who joined us and performed for us over these past seasons. You have helped make this concert series a special place where community and friends can gather for the love of live music and discover something new and beautiful each and every week.
Throckmorton Theatre is determined to offer the inspiration of live music to every community member, regardless of financial ability. Thus we offer these concerts free of charge to the public, however we pay all performers and incur costs to produce these events. We are incredibly grateful for any and all donations and we also welcome sponsorships of any level.
Concerts are approximately an hour long and most performances take place in the Tivoli room, where both the audience and musicians can sit in close proximity, creating an intimate concert setting. Please take a look at our calendar of these special events and join us!
