Welcome to the second Wednesday of our 2019/2020 season of Wednesday Noon Concerts featuring Karen Shinozaki and Li-Wen Monk!
Karen Shinozaki A familiar face in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene, Karen Shinozaki performs with the New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Rosa and Marin Symphonies, and as an extra in the San Francisco Ballet and Opera Orchestras. She is also a frequent chamber music collaborator, appearing with diverse groups including the Santa Rosa Chamber Players, Music at the Mission, the Sor Ensemble, and the Worn Ensemble. A Bay Area native, she received her BA from UC Berkeley as a longtime student of Serban Rusu of Tiburon, then continued her studies as a recipient of a Hertz Traveling Fellowship at the Konservatorium für Musik Bern, Switzerland as a student of Professor Igor Ozim. In her free time, Karen likes to relax with her cellist husband Eugene Sor and son Kenji, and indulge in her addiction to the Times crossword puzzles.
NOON CONCERTS Every Wednesday, for the past 7 years we have offered complimentary classical concerts featuring renowned musicians from around the world. The Wednesday concert series has become a special place where community and friends can gather for the love of live music and discover something new and beautiful each and every week. We want to offer the inspiration of live music to every community member, regardless of financial ability – so we offer these concerts free of charge to the public. Concerts are approximately an hour long take place in the Tivoli room, where both the audience and musicians can sit in close proximity, creating an intimate concert setting.
