Mélanie Clapiès Born in Paris, Mélanie Clapiès studied and developed her musical career in France before moving to the United States. Her commitment to chamber music repertoire led her to perform in festivals including Yellow Barn, Musique à Deauville, Colmar, Portogruaro, La Roque d’Anthéron. In 2012, she started the chamber music festival “En attendant…” in Burgundy, with cellist Yan Levionnois. Together, they recorded the album of duos “Pierrots Lunaires” (Fondamenta, 2104) that demonstrates her interest in exploring unusual repertoire. Mélanie studied at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs de Musique in Lyon and in Paris. She successively taught at Toulon and Bordeaux Conservatories, as well as in the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. In 2014 and 2015, after having moved to the US, she received her M.M. and her A.D. from the Yale School of Music where she studied with Syoko Aki. She is currently completing a Doctoral degree at the Manhattan School of Music where she studies with Mark Steinberg. A Zonta Club laureate, she received the Broadus Erle Prize, the Yale School of Music Alumni Association Prize, and the Philip Francis Nelson Prize.
