MAX PERKOFF, trombonist, pianist, composer. Max has performed at Yoshi’s in Oakland & San Francisco, The Herbst Theatre and Jazz At Pearl’s in San Francisco, 142 Throckmorton and The Sweetwater in Mill Valley, and many other SF Bay Area venues.Touring has included Jazz At Lincoln Center, The Iridium, The Triad, La Mama Theater, The Encore, The Metropolitan Room, and other New York City venues; as well as clubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Reno, Nevada.
Extensive sideman work has included jazz, cabaret, rock & pop performance with Lou Christie, John Cippolina, Chris Clark, Linda Clifford, Terese Genecco, Jon Hendricks, Dan Hicks, Harold Jones Big Band, Linda Kosut, Johnny Mathis, Sherri Payne, Bobby Rydell, Cami Thompson & The Cosmopolitans, Mike Vax, and Kenny Washington.
SI PERKOFF, pianist; composer. “Si Perkoff is a pianist’s pianist…one
senses an immersion in the Monkian realm that is unusually and profoundly deep;” Si was born July 25, 1937, in St. Louis, MO. At the age of seven he started classical piano lessons (1944-51), and then studied keyboard harmony (jazz) with Hall Overton 1957-58. Since the early 1960s he has been a performing pianist on the Bay Area Jazz scene, beginning with two years as house pianist at the legendary Bop City. Through the years he has been a leader of combos featuring many of the finest local musicians: Paul Breslin, Frank Passantino, Puzz Firth, Vince Lateano, Tony Johnson, Steve Mitchell, George Marsh, Mel Martin, Gerry Gilmore, Al Molino, Noel Jewkes; and a sideman in groups with national stars of Jazz music: Art Pepper, Buddy Collette, Pepper Adams, Frank Rehak, Julien Priester, Harry Sweets Edison, Roswell Rudd.
TOM SHADER, bassist. Tom has been playing full time professionally since 1970, most of his real education came “on the job”. He considers himself to be incredibly lucky to work with extremely talented mentors, including pianist Bob Lucas, percussionist Vince Delgado, and musician Mimi Spenser. He has performed, toured, and recorded with Max and Si many times for several decades. Tom has performed with dozens of nationally known musicians, including Steve Allen, Michael Buble’, Henry Mancini, Zakir Hussein, Grover Washington Jr., Peter Yarrow, and Jesse Colin Young
ABOUT NOON CONCERTS Welcome to our 2019/2020 season of Wednesday Noon Concerts! Every Wednesday, for the past 7 years we have offered complimentary classical concerts featuring renowned musicians from around the world. The Wednesday concert series has become a special place where community and friends can gather for the love of live music and discover something new and beautiful each and every week. We want to offer the inspiration of live music to every community member, regardless of financial ability – so we offer these concerts free of charge to the public. Concerts are approximately an hour long take place in the Tivoli room, where both the audience and musicians can sit in close proximity, creating an intimate concert setting.
