At StoryNights, talented performers, actors, comics and writers take to the mic for a night of personal stories told live. Sometimes touching, sometimes inspiring, sometimes embarrassing but always real; these stories won’t shy away from true grit.

StoryNights host, David Nihill (Founder of FunnyBizz) and world-class storytellers perform 10 minute true stories. Tonight Nihill is joined by storytellers Imran G, Doug Cordell, Alicia Dattner, Jeff Hanson, and Emily Epstein White.

MEET THE STORYTELLERS

Imran G

Imran G hits the stage with intensity and clever quips that keep his audience enthralled and roaring with laughter. A NASA rocket scientist by day, he performs at clubs and theaters around the San Francisco Bay Area. Imran has been a semi-finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the NBC Standup Showcase. He took 1st place in the 2011 Walk the Plank Comedy Competition and the 2014 Moth San Francisco StorySlam. He’s also performed at SF SketchFest and Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. Imran has been honored to work with greats like Dana Carvey, Robin Williams and more. He hosts the Moth and Speechless Live in San Francisco and co-hosts the Bad Asians podcast. When not doing comedy he enjoys doing cartwheels and acting like he knows how to breakdance.

Doug Cordell

Doug Cordell is a comedic storyteller and performer, NPR radio essayist and Emmy-nominated writer. Jeff Hanson

Jeff has won a San Francisco Moth StorySlam and was a featured storyteller for Storytelling Assoc. of California’s annual ‘Tellabration’. His storytelling style is multi-layered and contemplative. He specializes in tales of heartbreak, redemption and athletic competition against c-list celebrities. If you don’t get the point of his story, just wait. It’ll hit you next time you have a break up with the love of your life and her dog. You may have seen him at Fireside, About Last Night, Busting Out Storytelling or your local Safeway contemplating sweet potatoes.

David Nihill (host)

Leaving Dublin, Ireland, where he was born and raised until the age of 22, David got drunk on travel and never quite hit the sobriety of it. A bestselling author, David has been featured in Inc, NPR, Huffington Post, Forbes, Lifehacker and the Irish Times, and was recently part of the Irish Kings of Comedy Tour, SF Sketchfest, the Ventura Comedy Festival, Ukiah Comedy Alley, and the Kansas City Irish Festival. A multiple Moth Storyslam winner, Grandslam finalist and occasional host David has also told tales at Porchlight, The Naked Truth, Fireside and Litquake. Always a funny storyteller, these days he calls San Francisco home when immigration officials permit.

Emily Epstein White

Comedian, storyteller, and writer Emily Epstein White has been trapped in a self-cleaning toilet and has stitches from a treadmill accident. She performs all around New York City, the Northeast, and the West Coast, (not to mention a boat in the middle of the Yangtze River in China). She has been featured in many festivals and publications like the New York Underground Comedy Festival, the 360 Comedy Festival, the Ladies are Funny Festival in Austin, TX, the She-Devil Comedy Festival, the Boston Globe, and gawker.com. She’s been a winner of the Moth Slam, is a Grandslam finalist and has been an occasional Moth host.
