Sunday Sessions Songwriters Circle provides songwriters from some of the most popular local bands with an outlet for creative expression; musicians are able to focus on their songwriting in an intimate space and the community is invited to share in the creative process. Joining us on April 15 will be Rachel Efron, Kimrea, Liz Pisco, Anita Sandwina and host Dore Coller. Come by from 5-7pm for a musical treat that showcases some of the best tunesmiths around.

Rachel Efron:  Singer/Songwriter/Pianist Rachel Efron writes timeless melodies and captivating lyrics from her unique post amidst the genres of classical, jazz, and pop. Her latest release, Angel No More, was produced by Jon Evans (Tori Amos, Sarah MacLachlan) and played on over 45 radio stations nationwide and beyond. Efron is the songwriting teacher at California Jazz Conservatory, has headlined such local venues as Yoshi’s and Freight & Salvage, and has toured extensively on both coasts. She is currently hard at work on a new album to be released in 2018.

Kim Rea: Michigan born, Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist, Kimrea is a long time Marin resident, who has been writing and performing her songs for almost 50 years. In her early years Kimrea wandered the US and Canada with her guitar trying to make her way as a solo Troubadour in a manner inspired by Woody Guthrie.  Surviving that, today, Kimrea, with her band the Dreamdogs, is an established working artist in the Bay Area.  In January of 2018, Kimrea released her seventh album of original songs entitled “My Best Game”.   She’s got pockets full of worthy songs to share and a sound of her own.

Liz Pisco: Bay area singer/songwriter Liz Pisco has produced 3 original CD’s and just finished tracking her 4th with her vocal trio, The Dolly Mamas. In her 20+ years of playing, she has performed at such venues as The Wetlands and CBGB’s in NYC, in SF at The Great American Music Hall and The Bottom of the Hill, in Marin at The Fairfax Festival, numerous house concerts and benefit concerts including the annual Wine, Woman and Song benefit for the fight against breast cancer. Along with the WW&S founder, Susan Z who played last month’s Sunday Songwriter’s Circle, Liz toured the Pacific coast with their singer/songwriter in-the-round group, “She’s Out There.” These days, she spends most of her time raising her two kids and their new rescue pup, Lola.

Anita Sandwina: Anita Bear Sandwina is a multi-instrumentalist Nor-Cal transplant. Her earthy, rootsy style comes from childhood winters on plains of Iowa. She plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle for the Musers. Her award-winning songs make us laugh, and invite us to discover our own inner landscape. It is an absolute delight to witness her performances. They are high energy, heartfelt and, punctuated by her dancing feet and childlike wonder. Many an observer has said she is a “compelling force of nature” on stage. She has spent many years honing her craft in bands, most recently with Spark & Whisper.  Anita has appeared on many stages throughout Northern California including, The Freight and Salvage, Kate Wolf, American river, and the Redwood Ramble.
