MILL VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR
The Mill Valley Middle School choral program is in it’s 20th year, with close to 200 students involved in a variety of vocal ensembles under the direction of Jessica Nicholson. The Chamber Choir is the most advanced choir for 7th and 8th graders, and meets 2 times per week before school. The group performs primarily SATB, A Cappella repertoire of all styles, and consistently receives “Superior” ratings at festivals each year. Thanks to the community’s support of Kiddo, this program continues to thrive and contribute to the rich arts education for MVMS students.
THROCKMORTON CHORUS
The Throckmorton Chorus is a program of Throckmorton Theatre, composed of about 34 singers from all ages and walks of life who share a love of music and a desire to learn and grow in collaboration with others. Inspired by Bay Area teacher Joe Bloom and launched by Lucy Mercer in January of 2014, the repertoire includes a wide variety of styles allowing members to expand and deepen their skills and understanding of this rich music. Today the quality and artistry of the chorus reflects the commitment and growth of each of the members. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights and each season culminates in a public concert at the theatre. The group performs additional concerts each season, contributing their voices to inspire the community around us. Membership is by audition and subject to availability in each voice section.
ROCK THE AGES CHORUS
Established in 2009, Rock the Ages comprises residents ranging in age from their late 70’s and up, from The Redwoods, a community of seniors in Mill Valley, CA. Directed by local musician extraordinaire, Barry Blum, the chorus puts their spin on their grandchildren and great grandchildren’s hits from the 60’s to today, performing songs by ColdPlay, James Brown, The Beatles, PussyCat Dolls, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, X Ambassadors, The Clash and many, many more. At The Redwoods, our rockers aren’t just chairs! Established in 1972, The Redwoods, a community of seniors is a nationally recognized model for retirement living. It is a freestanding, not-for-profit residential community that offers affordable, multi-level rental housing, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing.
