THE MUSIC MAN Show Description:
Music by Meredith Wilson, Lyrics by Meredith Wilson, Book by Meredith Wilson & Franklin Lacey
The Music Man is witty, funny, heartfelt family entertainment at its best. Meredith Wilson’s 6 time Tony Award winning musical begins in River City, Iowa where smooth talking con man Harold Hill has just arrived with an elaborate scheme to trick the residents of this small town into forming a boys band with himself as the brilliant bandleader despite not knowing the difference between a trombone and a treble clef. His plan is to pocket all of the cash for the instruments and uniforms and flee. He runs into a few problems along the way though as the people of the town are not all convinced by his story, especially the stern and beautiful librarian, Marian Paroo. Harold also begins to struggle with his plan as he builds friendships with the townspeople and starts falling head over heels for Marian.
