MEET THE COMEDIANS
Dwight Slade
Part man, part ageless boy; comedian Dwight Slade has the privilege of being a comedy legend in American stand up. The winner of this year’s Boston Comedy Festival, Slade combines an intelligent, raging voice of justice with the snickering attitude of a high school prankster. In 2002, Slade became the first stand-up to make appearances at the three major North American Comedy Festivals: Aspen, Chicago and Montreal. On the heels of his performances, Slade signed a development deal with Warner Brothers Television. Slade was chosen to appear on HBO’s “Best of the US Comedy Arts Festival” and made an appearance on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend. He has performed abroad for US troops in Afghanistan and a tour in Israel, and Slade was chosen to appear on a Tonight Show feature.
Chicago Steve Barkley
Chicago Steve Barkley has been making audiences laugh in comedy clubs, on cruise ships and for corporate clients for more than 40 years. With a high energy delivery punctuated with sound effects and an animated delivery style, Steve never fails to deliver big laughs while keeping his show corporate clean. Steve has appeared on the Showtime Comedy Club Network 5x and was a featured performer in Michael Nesmith’s Grammy Award Winning video, “Elephant Parts.” Steve is also a $10K winner on ABC’s “America’s Funniest People.” Steve has opened for or toured with Ray Charles, The Doobie Brothers, Gladys Knight, and Neil Young to name a few.
Mark Pitta
Mark Pitta is a national headliner coming from the fervent San Francisco comedy scene of the 1980s. Mark’s career flourished in LA, first, fulfilling his dream of appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson then subsequent appearances with Jay Leno. Mark landed a job as host of Totally Hidden Video for the FOX network and then hosting Friday Night Videos for NBC. He has appeared on numerous shows on Comedy Central including Premium Blend, The A-List, Dr. Katz, and Make Me Laugh. A favorite on the comedy club, college, and corporate circuit, Mark has also opened for Chris Issak, Celene Dion, Vanessa Williams, Paul Anka, Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton John, Smokey Robinson, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Rick Springfield.
Jay Alexander
Master Magician and comic, Jay Alexander is one of the top entertainers in the country. With over 25 years of entertaining experience, Jay brings an unforgettable unique blend of comedy, magic and mind reading to his audiences. Jay has appeared on numerous shows including the Today Show, TEDx Talks, MTV, and Good Morning America. While he has performed for many society events and noted entertainer’s own private shows, he is best known for creating customized shows for America’s most powerful Fortune 500 companies.
Turner Sparks
Based in Suzhou and Shanghai, China, Turner Sparks started his comedy career in 2009 by founding Mainland China’s first stand up comedy group, “Stand Up China.” Before taking the stage in 2009, Sparks founded Mainland China’s first American ice cream truck when he brought New Jersey’s “Mister Softee” trucks to China. Currently a regular performer at Shanghai’s Kung Fu Komedy Club, Sparks has performed hundreds of shows throughout China and Asia, most recently being awarded “Best of the Fest” at the 2014 Akumal Comedy Festival in Mexico presented by Stand Up Records and 1st Runner Up at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition.
Liz Grant
Liz Grant has been performing comedy from the time she could get a decent fake ID. Her credits include being a writer for George Carlin’s Laugh.com and winner of The Brian Regan Impression Contest. Grant has performed all over the country, sharing the stage with comedy greats such as Robin Williams and Dana Carvey. Her one-woman comedy show, “Deja Wince: Lessons From a Failed Relationship Expert,” ran for 23 weeks in San Francisco and is now a DVD.
Dick Bright & Friends
Dick Bright has been entertaining audiences from the Venetian Room to AT&T park. For seven years Dick was the musical director for the prestigious Venetian Room in the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel working with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, B.B. king, and James Brown. As musical director of the first twelve BAMMIES (bay area music awards), he also worked with some of rocks biggest names. Dick also has an established acting career. He has landed roles in national commercials and in hit films such as Mrs. Doubtfire and Metro.
