THE COMEDIANS

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan is the 2016 winner of the Liz Carpenter Political Humor Award (previously awarded to Samantha Bee, Wanda Sykes and satirist/humorist Mark Russell) presented by the National Women’s Political Caucus. KQED named her one of the twenty “Women to Watch” a series celebrating women artists, creatives and makers in the San Francisco Bay Area who are pushing boundaries in 2016. Dhaya is also a TV host and storyteller. She hosted the premier year of the Emmy award-winning series High School Quiz Show on PBS’s WGBH. She is a frequent comedic storyteller on NPR’s Snap Judgment and has appeared live in Austin on The Risk podcast. She is currently the host of San Francisco’s monthly Moth StorySLAM after winning a Moth StorySLAM and competing in the GrandSLAM at the Castro Theater (capacity 1400). ON24 awarded her the grand prize for “Best Travel Disaster Story.”

Chris Storin

Billionaire Chris Storin put his stacks of cash aside to pursue stand up comedy. Sometimes Chris does shows where the audience is unaware that there is a comedy show that night. Does that bother him? F@%# NO! He straps on a mic, and takes the audience on a ride so AWESOME, you’ll forget he’s a billionaire.  Storin has been all over the world, performing for the troops, as well as opening huge local shows like the Wild 94.9 Comedy Jam. His energetic storytelling will have you wanting more. You can catch him all over the Bay Area as well as touring with Last Comic Standing winner, Felipe Esparza. Go check out Chris Storin.

Frank Cronin

Francis Cronin is an Irish born and raised comedian, actor, writer, producer and ex-Irish army officer who first achieved national acclaim for his humorous adventure sketch videos on his YouTube channel ‘GlowPunk.’  In 2012 Francis won the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the WAFF Awards in Ireland, and received an ‘Honorary Headcase Award’ in 2013. Frank was also nominated for an ‘Outsider – Person of the Year Award’ in 2013 for his documentary series about living in a tent for his entire final year of university.  In 2015 Francis opened for and performed with internationally acclaimed standup comedians such as Dana Carvey, Bill Burr, Alonzo Bodden, Christopher Titus & Elayne Boosler. Recently Frank appeared on the Marilu Henner Show, to talk about his role in his latest  Hollywood movie, ‘Frenchman’s Flat’.  Before moving to America Francis made numerous TV appearances in Ireland and is currently working with SNL alumni on beyondthecomics.com. Frank performed for 3000+ people at the San Diego County Fair for the 4th of July Celebrations 2015; and has appeared on Ray William Johnson of ‘Equals Three’s hit show ‘Comedians On’. He is a staple cast member in the ‘Ray Johnson’ viral video sketch group which garners over 50million views a month. He was awarded top marks at the Burbank Comedy Festival and has hosted live TV interviews for the Hollywood Reporter A list talent. Most recently Francis has appeared in a Mas Mejor (Broadway Video) production in which he plays an evil clown and has written and played a part in BlackPills Flagship show SuperHigh.

Betsy Salkind

Betsy Salkind is an actress, comedian, writer and former drummer for the PHENOBARBIDOLLS. She was a founding member of the TERRORIST BRIDESMAIDS (4 comediennes determined to get a second use out of those dresses), and alumna of the improv troupe GUILTY CHILDREN and the sketch comedy group THE OTHER WHITE MEAT. She was also a staffwriter for “SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL” and “ROSEANNE” (the sitcom), and a jokewriter for Anthony Robbins. is a regular at NY’s Comic Strip and LA’s Comedy Store, and has appeared on “Girls Night Out,” “Stand-Up, Stand-Up,” “ARLI$$,” “Pet Shop with Andy Kindler,” the “TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO,” and most recently in the SHOWTIME special “Fierce Funny Women.” She has written and performed 3 one woman shows to date, including “ALL MY LIFE” (the darkest comedy this side of hope), “MASTER OF SCIENCE” (an irreverent look at science and scientists), and most recently “ANNE FRANK SUPERSTAR: THE ETHEL SPILIOTES STORY” (a satire of Anne Franxploitation).

Lance Woods

Lance Woods is a comedy force of nature. In just seven years of performing stand-up, he’s gone from hosting variety shows at his church, to opening for Dave Chappelle and hosting parties for Too Short on Treasure Island. His “Lance Woods and Friends” shows are a near-monthly staple of the Sacramento Punch Line and Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco and are regularly packed.  He’s easily one of the most consistently funny and recognizable local comedians.

Kevin Wong

Kevin Wong is a Bay Area comic that honed his craft in dive bars, coffee houses, and laundromats. Sometimes, for an audience of none. Since his first open mic at Tommy T’s in 2010, he has challenged audiences to think differently and left them with the sense they’re not alone. In 2014, Kevin started a weekly show, producing and hosting The Secret Show: a Night of Stand-Up Comedy at The Swingin’ Door in San Mateo, California. It built a loyal following among locals and comedians alike. In 2016, he expanded his comedy reach, adding two new Bay Area shows: Comedians@RedRock – at Red Rock Coffee in Mountain View and Comedians@Rail – at Rail Club (formerly Carlos Club) in San Carlos. He also launched a solo podcast, aptly named The Podcast. Twice a week, he speaks candidly on topical issues, finding humor in life’s lessons.  Kevin continues on his comedy journey to create, share, and enjoy laughs – exploring new venues and unique opportunities.

Heather Gold

Driven to comedy by law school, Heather Gold continues to mix mind with matter. Heather’s unique style is a reflection of her unorthodox artistic path, reflecting her studies at Yale, Northwestern Law, Groundlings, improv legend Cynthis Szigeti (who’s been a big influence on other students like Conan O’Brien and Lisa Kudrow) years in the geek and entrepreneurial culture of Silicon Valley.  Heather has the unique ability to make connections between the most unlikely things, and create an immediate intimacy with any audience. Her monologues and riffing stand-up performances fuse personal stories, social observation and conversation. She counts Paul Mooney, Uncabaret, Alice Waters and the Internet among her influences. Her shows and panels had a big impact on the formative years of SXSWinteractive. While performing for her geek audience at SXSW one year, Heather discovered the audience was funny too and began experimenting with open sourcing elements of her shows.
