THE COMEDIANS
Shawn Pelofsky-Oliveira
Shawn Pelofsky is one of those fearless female comics who refuses to be anyone but herself. This sassy female will blow you away with her physical comedy and high energy. If Joan Rivers and Bette Midler were to have a love child, then this would be your comic for hire. Shawn will take you on a wild ride with her outrageous impersonations and knowledge of pop culture. Her ability to nickname and work a crowd will have you in hysterics. At the age of 20, Shawn Pelofsky was performing sketches and improv with comedic giant, Will Ferrell. She then became a member of The ACME Comedy Theater. During her time at ACME, Shawn flourished in the field of stand-up comedy culminating with her current status as a paid regular at The World Famous Comedy Store. When she’s not touring or performing for our troops, Shawn performs weekly on their infamous Main Room stage. Adding to her many comedic accolades, Shawn has been featured in The Montreal “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival and in the all female hit comedy tours Pretty Funny Women, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad and The Hot Tamales produced by Eva Longoria. She has opened up for greats such as Richard Lewis, Robert Klein and Bill Maher and written for comedic legend, Joan Rivers on Fashion Police.
Turner Sparks
After 12 years of living in Suzhou, China, opening Mister Softee China Ice Cream, co-founding the Kung Fu Comedy Club in Shanghai and touring as a comedian all over Asia, Turner Sparks is now based in Brooklyn, NY. Turner Sparks started his comedy career in 2009 by founding Mainland China’s first stand up comedy group, “Stand Up China”. Throughout his years spent in Asia, Sparks has performed hundreds of shows throughout China and Asia, most recently being awarded “Best of the Fest” at the 2014 Akumal Comedy Festival presented by Stand Up Records. He was also awarded Runner Up at the 2012 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition. Turner tours regularly as a headliner throughout Asia and also with comedians such as Jimmy Shubert, Ruben Paul, Tom Rhodes, Dwayne Perkins and more.
Milt Abel
A stand-up comedian with over twenty years of professional experience, Milt has performed everywhere from television to cruise ships, from comedy clubs and college campuses to corporate events ranging in audience size of twenty to two thousand. After a B.A. degree in drama Milt went right into a stand-up career and never looked back. He’s made numerous television appearances; several performances on An Evening At The Improv, and comedy specials for PBS and Showtime, and regularly performs for cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Holland America, and Princess. Milt’s style of stand-up comedy is clean, clever, and funny.
Larry Brown (Host)
Larry “Bubbles” Brown is a San Francisco based comedian and a favorite of the Throckmorton. Larry tried stand up comedy in 1981 at the Holy City Zoo in SF and has stayed with it ever since. He has appeared on over 25 tv shows, including numerous appearances on David Letterman. He was also in the movie “The Kiterunner.” Larry is a frequent opening act for Dana Carvey and Dave Attell.
Mean Dave
Mean Dave is a Californian comedian from the SF Bay Area with a rock and roll style for any occasion or function. Starting with a background in music, Mean Dave was a musician of many years who found he was a comedian the way Happy Gilmore thought he was a hockey player who found himself to be a golfer. With a manic, intelligent approach to material about modern day life, you will be thoroughly entertained with clean-to-adult humor about a variety of subjects. Mean Dave has performed regularly at San Jose Improv, San Francisco Punchline, LA Comedy Store, Tommy T’s in Pleasanton and all kinds of shows and events all over.
Steve Bruner
Steve Bruner looks like a perfectly normal guy—until he opens his mouth. He’s delivered his laser-sharp humor on Comedy Club Network (Showtime), An Evening at the Improv (A&E), Into the Night (ABC), and The Byron Allen Show (NBC), to name a few. Steve is also one of the funniest guys on the high seas. For more than a decade, he’s been entertaining passengers from around the world on all the major cruise lines including Norwegian, Princess, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean. He’s played clubs across the country, including The Comedy Store, The Improv, The Comedy & Magic Club, The Laugh Factory, The Punchline, Catch a Rising Star, and The Ice House. Steve has written material for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Byron Allen Show, The Sunday Comics, and Comic Strip Live. He also served as a writer/segment producer for Haywire, a sketch comedy show on Fox.
Bobby Tessel
Bobby Tessel is one of only few comics to appear on both, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and, The Late Show with David Letterman. What does that mean? Not much really, but he’s done it, have you? Tessels first time on stage was to a packed house at the Funnybone Comedy Club in Cincinnati; he absolutely destroyed the room. And every since that night, he hasn’t looked back.
