Tuesday Night Live Comedy is recognized as one of Bay Area’s best stand-up comedy showcases. Each week renowned comedians from all around the world as well as today’s hottest up-and-coming comedy stars hit the stage for a hilarious night of live stand-up. Come get your laugh on!

THE LINEUP

Tommy Savitt

The Tommy Lama says “For those who say the glass is half empty, I tell you to break that glass and cut them”.  Multi-award winning comedian, Tommy Savitt, has won the prestigious 2007 Boston Comedy Festival, 2008 Seattle Comedy Competition, and was honored for the “Best In Comedy” category at the 2009, and 2012 LA Comedy Awards. Tommy has been seen on WGN’s “The Bob & Tom Show,” SI Tv’s “Funny is Funny,” Comcast On Demand’s “Man up, Stand-Up” on mav.tv and on JLTV’s “James and Sunda.”  His comedy CD “Who Wants Me Now!” is one of the top requested on satellite radio. He performs an exhilarating brand of eclectic comedy rarely seen today. Tommy’s unorthodox comedy routine envelops his audience and teleports them into a domain of hilarity and pure craftsmanship.

Sampson McCormick

Sampson McCormick is a popular award-winning stand-up comedian, writer, activist, and filmmaker. McCormick has worked alongside notable acts such as Patti LaBelle, Angela Bassett, Bruce Vilanch, Paul Mooney, Thea Vidale, Luenell, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, and Adele Givens. He connects with audiences through his amusing take on our maddening world, and he uses humor to speak out about the perils of growing up Black and gay in America. McCormick’s hit comedy shows, “Don’t Make Me Take Off My Earrings,” “No Tea, No Shade,” and “That B**** Better Be Funny!” (a finalist for a Grammy nomination) have riveted audiences, and brought him great acclaim for his refreshing, bold, intelligent, and honest humor. McCormick has been featured in several print publications, including “The Washington Examiner,” “MetroWeekly,” the “Washington Blade,” “SWERV,” “Frontiers,” “Truth Magazine,” the “Washington Post,” “Out” “Bay Area Reporter,” and “East Bay Express.” He’s appeared on MTV, BET, VH1 and the OWN network.

Brendan Gay

Born and raised in the Midwest, Brendan Gay is a Chicago based/touring comedian who smiles confidently when he gets nervous. Whether it’s his keen perspective on minority culture or growing up as a millennial bro, he’ll make you laugh. In 2017, Brendan won the Comedy for Cash Competition in Sacramento and went on a “52 x 52” comedy tour where he traveled to 52 cities in 52 weeks performing at the most respected clubs and venues across the country. He’s a Tedx speaker, producer & host of the Brendan Being Brendan Podcast and part of The Second City writing program in Chicago. Brendan has opened for comedians such as Mark Normand (Comedy Central, Amy Schumer Presents), Joe Machi (Last Comic Standing, Conan, Jimmy Fallon), Alonzo Bodden (Last Comic Standing, Conan, NPR) and Mike Kosta (Daily Show with Trevor Noah) to name a few.

Jeff Applebaum

Jeff’s comedy examines his particular life experiences, which include being the only white kid on his Little League team in Queens.  Jeff made his national TV debut on CBS as a comedian on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” He has also appeared on Comics Unleashed and Comedy.TV, Byron Allen’s nationally syndicated Entertainment Studios program, ABC-TV, America’s Got Talent on NBC and opened for and performed with comic legends Robert Klein, Mort Sahl, Richard Lewis, Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Kevin Pollak, Elayne Boosler, Jimmy “JJ” Walker, and more. He’s also a frequent guest on KGO Radio, AM810 in San Francisco, CA  Jeff was cast by Sandy Hackett, the late Buddy Hackett’s son, to play the principal role of Joey Bishop in the long-running musical tribute “The Rat Pack Is Back,” in San Francisco, Chicago, and Las Vegas.

Alison Hooker

Allison Hooker is a San Francisco based comedian and writer who regularly performs in SF’s underground scene, as well as prominent clubs including Cobb’s, PianoFight, Kell’s and Doc’s Lab

 

Michael O’Brien  (Co-Host)

Michael O’Brien is an original member of the National Theatre of the Deranged, co-creator of “Tips on Travel” with Karl & Carl” and a master improviser whose credits include performances at The Moth, Porchlight SF, Marsh Theatre, Holy City Zoo and Throckmorton Theatre. Michael is also a teaching artist: Improv Open Workshop at Fort Mason Center, Voice One SF, Academy of Art University, San Francisco State University (guest instructor) and Stanford University (guest instructor).

Geoff Bolt  (Co-Host)

Geoff Bolt is a comedian, writer and actor. A Bay Area original, Geoff is renowned as an inspired improviser in the world of sketch comedy. Geoff got his start in the comedy world as a founding member of the critically acclaimed National Theatre of the Deranged, and soon after debuted his stand-up comedy to rave reviews at San Francisco’s Other Cafe. He continues to perform regularly to dedicated fans at a wide variety of comedy clubs. He has appeared in many feature films was featured in HBO’s Young Comedian’s Special, Showtime’s Comedy Channel, A&E’s Evening at the Improv, and KQED’s Comedy Tonight. Geoff has appeared in several plays at the SF Fringe Festival and has done hundreds of voice- overs for radio, television, and video games. He appears regularly on NPR’s West Coast Live as half of the comedy team of Karl and Carl, who offer their unconventional “Tips on Travel”.
