“Smorgasbord Baroque” features Baroque and Classical music from unexpected places. From the imperial Chinese court to the cathedrals of Guatemala, composers drew from European and indigenous sources to create music that dynamically captured the first wave of globalization from the 16th through 18th centuries.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

MUSA is a chamber ensemble dedicated to historically informed performances of Baroque and Classical repertoire, as well as new music for period instruments.

From trio sonatas to orchestral works, MUSA has presented programs on numerous concert series across the Bay Area.

The 2017-18 season includes programs at SF Music Day, Santa Cruz Chamber Players, Wednesday Noon Concerts at Throckmorton Theatre, Sunset Music and Arts, Foothill Community Concert Series, Third Sunday Concerts at St. Alban’s, Noontime Concerts at Old St. Mary’s, Presidio Sessions, Candlelight Concerts at St. Mary the Virgin, Marin Baroque Presents, and Resonance @ First Church Berkeley.

MUSA is a fiscal affiliate of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.

WEDNESDAY NOON CONCERTS

The community is invited to our complimentary Wednesday Noon Concert series. As part of our ongoing mission to use the transformative power of the arts to inspire and enrich our community, we have opened our doors for the past two years, every Wednesday at Noon, and presented concerts performed by talented musicians that are free of charge to the public. These free noon performances offer listeners the opportunity to discover the beauty of music in an intimate accessible setting, while providing the community with cultural enrichment and exposure to talented performers.

Concerts are in a one-hour format and performances take place in the intimate Tivoli or Crescendo where both audience and musicians can sit in vibrant, close proximity. Musicians often stay after the performance to informally speak about the program and their upcoming concerts.
