Northern California based independent label Floating Records presents Spring Revue 2018, a triple-bill featuring the label’s quickly-growing, high-profile acts: Mark Karan’s Budz, Jeffrey Halford & the Healers and Peter Kaukonen.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

Mark Karan is best known for performing with the extended Grateful Dead family. For the last twelve years, he has anchored the lead guitar slot in Bob Weir & RatDog, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans year-round. Before crossing over into the land of the Dead, Mark worked his guitar and vocal voodoo for the likes of Dave Mason, Delaney Bramlett, the Rembrandts, Paul Carrack, Huey Lewis, Jesse Colin Young and Sophie B. Hawkins.

Mark also tours with an array of amazing musicians in his own “Mark Karan’s Buds”, where his soulful blues-based vocal stylings and inspired guitar work meld with the remarkably creative and responsive playing of his friends in a passionate delivery of the psychedelicized sounds of Americana. This is where rock meets R&B and country and mixes with the soul of New Orleans… with healthy portions of reggae, folk, funk and whatever else the muse might bring.

Northern California Americana-Roots troubadour, Jeffrey Halford found his musical calling after watching San Francisco’s street musicians. For over a year, Halford cut his guitar chops on the street and his street gigs led him to play with Oakland blues greats Sonny Lane, Mississippi Johnny Waters, and JJ Malone. Halford later formed the popular rockabilly band, The Snappers, playing around the Bay Area for over four years with artists such as the Blasters and the Beat Farmers. Over the last 25 years, Halford has been touring the country with his band, the Healers. They have played shows with some of music’s most acclaimed artists and songwriters, as well as Halford’s influences, such as Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, George Thorogood, Gregg Allman, Etta James, John Hammond, and Texas Greats Augie Meyers, Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen. Halford’s Floating Records release “Lo-Fi Dreams” garnered seven year-end honors in 2017.

Peter Kaukonen, San Francisco Bay Area guitarist, has played, toured, and recorded with Black Kangaroo, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and Johnny Winter. He continues to compose and record the kinds of eclectic and personal music that has attracted and sustained legion of stalwart fans through the years. Peter’s album “Crazy Quilt” was recently released by Floating Records and features his acoustic and electric guitar virtuosity while showcasing his skills as a composer and producer. Highlighted by emotion, driven by passion, and frosted with whimsy, Peter’s music is guaranteed to take you on a trip.
