Artist Statement
I am mostly self-taught, but have taken painting courses at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Massachusetts College of Art, and the San Francisco Art Institute. Most of my work now is done on board, incorporating different styles and subject matter. I mainly focus on creating visually compelling works without really thinking about meaning too much. It’s only after I’ve accomplished the former that my mind turns to the latter. My work seems to have a somewhat nostalgic suburban theme to it coupled with apocalyptic overtones. I’m a big fan of the Bay Area Figurative Art movement and I think that has had an obvious influence on my work.
